Protecting Freshwater Resources in Thailand
3C has partnered with stakeholders in Thailand to protect the country’s freshwater resources to ensure sustainable supply and use. Urban development, ground water extraction, and loss of wetlands are some of the major threats to Thailand’s freshwater supply. 3C is helping to drive the direction in where and how freshwater resources should be protected for sustainable use. The major river basins of the Chaopraya and Mekong Rivers will be the focal areas for the next five years. Management interventions will target supplementary livelihoods, habitat and aquatic resources, governance, capacity building, and raising awareness.
